25th Anniversary May Procession

Hundreds of people gathered for Belmont's Annual Procession in honour of the Blessed Virgin Mary. To Mark the occasion Fr John Harris, O.P., a Dominican, came over from Dublin to preach. In his homily he took the congregation back to the first centuries of the Church, to the Council of Ephesus in the 5th Century that declared Mary the 'Mother of God.'For centuries Christians have walked with lights in procession. It is the People of God express their faith, hope and love. It is a journey always undertaken in song, and on this nights led the statue the grounds of Belmont and into the church, singing their hearts their songs of love.
